The Bourbonnais UGC Girls 8th Grade basketball team recovered from a 2-point first quarter to knot the score at the intermission against host St. George Wednesay night. The Lady Tigers then posted a 19-point second half to come away with a 37-24 victory on "Pink-Out" night at St. George.
After the slow start, BUGC was down 9-2 after one but rallied to a 16-all tie at the break. Early foul trouble in the first quarter held the offense back, and the defense stepped it up in the second half allowing more scoring opportunies to lead the Lady Tigers to the victory. Leading the way was the duo of Caris White and Claudia Dolliger with 10 points apiece, with point guard Avery Kemp chipping in nine.
"We had a bad first quarter but had our best comeback of the season tonight." said White of the slow start, "the game was full energy on both sides because we were playing against one of our cross town rivals and a lot of old teammates".
The Lady Tigers have the rest of the week off, before hosting a trio of contests early next week starting with a showdown with St. Anne Monday night.
