Travel Softball: Rebels sweep through Ottawa

The 16U Dwight Rebels took home first-place during a sweep of a three game Sunday tournament in Ottawa.

Shelby Serena held the Illinois Irish to a single hit from the circle during the 4-0 victory to pick up the win in the opening game. At the plate Elena Longtin, Maci Romero, Kayla Kodat, and Isabelle Schultz each collected two hits.

During game two against host Ottawa, Nora Anderson took to the circle striking out two while allowing just two hits in the 9-0 shutout. Longtin led the Rebels offense with a double and triple at the plate. Anderson helped her cause with a home run and single, Schultz tripled and singled, and Kat Harms added a pair of hits.

In the closing matchup against Joliet, the Rebels bats exploded for 12 runs led by Ana Howard's three hits to finish the day with a 12-2 victory. Kodat homered, with Hayley Bruce and Serena each adding a pair of hits. Howard, Anderson, and Bruce all doubled. Serena took the win from the circle allowing three hits and two runs, both unearned.

The Rebel defense was stellar, not allowing an opponent to cross the plate until the final inning of the final game.
