Youth Hockey: Coyotes open season at Thanksgiving Tourneys

The Kankakee Coyote Youth Hockey teams opened play for the 2017 season over Thanksgiving weekend with all levels taking to the ice for tournaments in their respective divisions.

The 8u (Mite) team, playing in a half-ice format, captured the 2nd seed for bracket play, eventually falling to an undefeated Homewood-Flossmoor team, 9-5 in the semi-finals.

Both the 12U (Peewee) White and Maroon teams played competitive hockey throughout the tournament with both teams advancing into the semi-finals, but being stopped there.

The 14U team had a great showing by tallying the most points with six before losing 4-3 in a hard-fought championship match-up with Oak Park Navy.

December 1st will see the Coyotes 8u begin their NWHL regular season pre-tiering round, while the 10u, 12u, and 14u teams begin their regular season post-tiering games.
