Youth Hockey: Coyote 10u White captures Chicago Holiday Tourney Crown

The Kankakee Coyotes 10u White team competed in the Chicago Holiday Classic hockey tournament over the weekend, returning with the Championship Hardware.

After losing their first game 4-2 against Hoffman Estates Wolf Pack, they battled to a 2-goal tie with the Chesterfield Falcons and beat the Twin Rinks Sharks 7-2, sending them to the championship and a rematch with the Wolf Pack.

The game was a scoreless battle until halfway into the 3rd period when the Wolf Pack scored two quick goals.

With time running out, the Coyotes bounced back and tied the game after pulling goalie Lorn Toepper from net with less than two minutes to play to give them a 6 on 5-man advantage.

The stalemate moved the game to overtime, which is a 4-on-4 format.

Quickly into OT, Will Latham shot a laser from the blue line that hit the top bar and dropped down which allowed Keegan Andre to easily push the puck in for the championship winning goal.
