The Dwight Junior High 7th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated Peoria Christian last night to advance to the State Tournament this weekend.
A buzzer beater by Brayden Long broke a 39-all tie as time expired to punch the Redbird's ticket to the State Finals. Long finished with a double-double -- 20 points and 16 rebounds. Reid Legner and Clayton Peck each added eight points and combined for eight rebounds, while Jace Gall also chipped in six points.
The Redbirds move to 17-3 for the season and will travel to Germantown Hills Middle School to take on Decatur Robinson in the quarterfinal round, Saturday, February 3rd at 1:00pm.
