The Dwight Trojan JV Softball team took to the road to face off with a pair of former Interstate Eight Conference foes this week. After dominating Coal City 9-0 on Wednesday, the Trojans followed up dropping a 16-12 slug-fest against Reed-Custer.
Abby Rodosky threw a gem against the Coalers, striking out nine without allowing a walk or a run to the Coaler lineup.
The Trojans jumped on the board early in the first inning on a two-run double from Kayla Kodat.
But it was the second frame the Trojans began to roll, led by Lauryn Hoegger, Riley Connolly, and Isabelle Schultz, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Connolly, Kodat, Schultz, and Nora Anderson each racked up multiple hits for the Trojans who totaled 12 hits in the seven innings - Connolly led the way with three hits in four at bats.
Despite out-hitting Reed-Custer 19-14, the Trojans weren't able to match the Comet run total and fell 16-12 Thursday night.
Anderson, Kodat, Rodosky, Schultz, and Addi Bean all posted multi-hit games, with Bean putting up a 4-for-4 performance from the box.
The Trojans are off until Tuesday when they travel to Gibson City.
