The Bradley-Bourbonnais JV baseball team jumped out to an early lead over Manteno, and held the Panther offense in check to record a 7-4 home victory Wednesday afternoon.
Getting on the board first, the Boilermakers opened the scoring on an RBI single by Cade Liehr in the bottom half of the opening frame. But it was the second inning that put the Boilermakers on top for good, plating three runs after Hunter Glassford tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Glassford scored on a sacrifice fly by Gabe Renchen.
The Boilermakers put up another three runs in the fifth inning, led by Alex Rodriguez, Liehr, and Karraker - all sending runners across the plate with an RBI in the inning.
Rodriguez started for the Boilermakers on the hill, allowing just one hit and one run over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Trent Spoon and Michael Freitas entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
BBCHS totaled 12 hits in the game. Karraker, Rodriguez, Glassford, and Liehr each had multiple hits on the day.
