The Bourbonnais UGC Tiger Baseball Team finished up the weekend on a high note, with a combined no-hit performance from hurlers Vernon Malone and Jeremiah Renchen.
Renchen struck out the last batter of the game, as he and Malone would team up to hold St. Rays hitless in a 12-0 Tiger victory in game two of Saturday's twin-bill.
The Tigers secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the fourth inning, with the offensive charge being led by singles from Cole Schmidt, Jason Soucie, and Wesley Latham, along with a triple by Luke Laney.
Malone led things off on the pitcher's mound for BUGC, lasting three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out three. Renchen pitched the final inning, striking out all three hitters he faced.
Latham, Schmidt, Soucie, Malone, Laney, and Dominic Panozzo each had hits in the game.
In the day's opener, the Tigers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-2 loss to St. Rays.
BUGC struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing St. Rays, giving up 12 runs. Keegan Cole started the game for the Tigers, surrendering ten runs on seven hits over one inning. Nick Mullett threw three innings in relief, and Ethan Zirble led the Tigers with two hits in two at bats.
