Junior High Softball: Big Final Inning lifts Reed-Custer over Dwight

A four-run fourth inning, concluding with a walk-off infield error from the bat of Becca Bond, lifted the Reed-Custer Lady Panthers over visiting Dwight, 7-6 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Redbirds struck first, plating four in the first inning after a no 0-2 single from Mia Buck scored Megan Livingston and Erin Adnderson. Kira Bean followed with a double to score Hailey Heath and Buck to put the visitors up 4-0.

The Reed-Custer defense slowed down the Dwight offense, allowing just single runs in the second and fourth innings to keep the game from getting out of reach until the surge in the final frame.

The Panthers racked up nine hits in the game, three in the final frame with Haley LaGrange and Mya Beard each posting a multiple hit game for Reed Custer. LaGrange went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Panthers charge including a single in the final inning to put the tying run on base. LaGrange and Julia Janopolous then scored on a double by Grace Hanson to tie it up, setting the stage for Bond's game-winner.

Grace Moyers took the win for Reed Custer, logging four innings allowing just one hit and one run while striking out four and walking zero. LaGrange started in the circle posting three innings, allowing four hits and five runs, striking out two.

Megan Livingston went the distance for the Redbirds and was tagged with the loss, giving up nine hits and seven runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
