Offense hightlighted the end of last week's action in area junior high softball. Reed-Custer's Grace Moyers drove in six runs in the Panther's 12-6 win over Wilmington on Saturday, while Alyssa Dralle gave Manteno the win in the final at-bat over Homer on Thursday evening.
Reed-Custer (12) - Wilmington (6)
Grace Moyers came the ballpark and meant business on Saturday, driving in six on three hits to lead Reed-Custer past Wilmington,12-6. Moyers drove in runs on a triple in the first, a double in the third, and a single in the sixth.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Reed-Custer collected ten hits and Wilmington posted six in the high-scoring affair
The Panthers got on the board in the first inning when Moyers tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
The big inning came as R-C plated six runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Grace Hanson, Becca Bond, Judith Curl, and Moyers, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Moyers earned the win from the circle for the Panthers, lasting seven innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out 13.
Reed Custer racked up ten hits in the game. Moyers, Hanson, and Haley LaGrange each racked up multiple hits for the Panthers, with Moyers leading the charge with three hits in three at bats.
Manteno (7) - Homer (6)
It came down to the wire on Thursday, when Alyssa Dralle drilled a sharp-hit gounder to shortstop that was mishandled, allowing Kylie Saathoff to score from third and hand the Manteno a 7-6 win over Homer.
Homer crossed the plate three times in the top of the sixth to take a 6-2 lead with the Panthers having just six outs left. After a two-run sixth for Manteno, the Panthers continued the scoring going plating three runs in the last at-bat.
Drew Hosselton earned the win for the Panthers, logging two and a third innings in the circle allowing three runs on two hits and striking out one.
Ava Pequette led Manteno with two hits in two at bats.
