The Bourbonnais UGC Tigers baseball team split a pair of games this week, topping Bradley-Central 12-2 in a cross-town showdown on Tuesday, before fallling to Manhattan 7-3 Wednesday afternoon.
BUGC (12) - Bradley-Central (2)
The Tigers defeated Bradley 12-2 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two with BUGC batting in the bottom of the fifth when Luke Laney doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
But it was a nine-run fifth inning that secured the victory for the Tigers, powered by singles from Ethan Zirble, Vernon Malone, Easton Urban, and Dominic Panozzo, doubles by Laney and Keegan Cole, and a walk by Carson Long.
Jason Soucie was on the mound for BUGC and earned the win, allowing no hits and one run over three innings, striking out seven and walking one.
BUGC tallied 12 hits on the night, with Anthony Kemp, Jeremiah Renchen, Urban, and Malone all posting multiple hits for the Tigers.
Manhattan (7) - BUGC (3)
BUGC watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-3 loss to Manhattan on Wednesday, despite out-hitting the Demons ten to eight.
Wesley Latham started on the mound for the Tigers, surrendering seven runs on six hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Malone and Renchen both entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and two innings respectively.
The Tigers scattered ten hits in the game, with Malone, Laney, Kaden Baron, and Renchen each with multiple hits for BUGC.
